The Irish Border Issue – What's the Problem?
The Irish Border Issue – What's the Problem?
Kooperationsveranstaltung mit EUROPE DIRECT Dortmund
Of the many issues resulting from the United Kingdom's decision to leave the European Union, the situation regarding the natural land border between the Irish Republic and Northern Ireland has proven to be the most difficult to resolve. For many people, the ongoing conflicts are difficult to understand. Reference is constantly made to official decisions such as the Northern Ireland Protocol and Article 16, etc. but what do these entail? To achieve more clarity in this matter, Europe Direct and the Dortmund Deutsch-Britische Gesellschaft are jointly organising an Information Evening and cordially invite you to take part.
Our speaker is the renowned legal expert, Professor Michael Dougan, who is Professor of European Law and Jean Monnet Chair in EU Law at the University of Liverpool. In his talk he will give important information on the background to the UK-EU discussions, describe the present state of the negotiations and look into the future regarding possible ways of solving the conflict.
After his talk, Professor Dougan will answer any questions put to him by his audience.
The discussion will be in English and be held via zoom.
Moderation and presentation by Geoff Tranter.
