Die Anmeldefrist für den diesjährigen Europäischen Karlspreis für die Jugend ist verlängert worden. Bis zum 10. Februar 2014 haben Kandidaten noch die Gelegenheit an dem zum siebten Mal ausgeschriebenen Wettbewerb für die Auszeichnung teilzunehmen. Die Einreichung von Projektvorschlägen ist einfach und unkompliziert.
Vorbilder für junge Europäer
Der Europäische Jugendkarlspreis wird seit 2008 gemeinsam vom Europäischen Parlament und Karlspreisstiftung in Aachen an Projekte von jungen Menschen zwischen 16 und 30 Jahren vergeben, die einen Beitrag zum besseren Verständnis zwischen den Bürgerinnen und Bürgern aus verschiedenen europäischen Ländern leisten. Die Gewinnerprojekte sollten Vorbilder für Jugendliche aus ganz Europa sein und praktische Beispiele für das Zusammenleben von Europäern als eine Gemeinschaft anbieten. Hierzu zählen z.B. Jugendaustauschprogramme, künstlerische Projekte und Internetprojekte mit europäischer Dimension.
Insgesamt 10.000 Euro Preisgeld
Die drei Gewinnerprojekte werden mit 5.000, 3.000 und 2.000 Euro prämiert. Die Gewinner werden zudem zu einem Besuch in das Europäische Parlament nach Brüssel eingeladen. Vertreter der besten Projekte aus allen 28 Mitgliedstaaten werden am 27. Mai 2014 zur feierlichen Preisverleihung nach Aachen eingeladen. Im Rahmen ihres viertägigen Aufenthaltes werden die Jugendlichen auch an der Verleihung des Internationalen Karlspreises an den Präsidenten des Europäischen Rates Herman Van Rompuy teilnehmen.
Die Gewinner 2013
Im vergangenen Jahr 2013 ging der Jugendkarlspreis erstmals nach Spanien. Gewinner war das von dem Studentenforum AEGEE konzipierte Medienprojekt „Europe on Track". Den zweiten Platz belegte der polnische Fotowettbewerb „Discover Europe". Der dritte Preis ging an das estnische Jugendaustauschprojekt „The Story of my Life".

European Charlemagne Youth Prize – apply now!
The deadline for the submission of applications for the Charlemagne Youth Prize has been extended. Until 10 February 2014 candidates can participate in the seventh edition of the Prize. The procedure for the submission of applications is simple and straightforward.
Role models for young Europeans
The Charlemagne Youth Prize, which is jointly organised by the European Parliament and the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen, is awarded to projects undertaken by people between 16 and 30 years old that help to promote understanding between citizens of different European countries. The winning projects should serve as role models for young people living in Europe and offer practical examples of Europeans living together as one community. The projects can focus e.g. on the organisation of various youth events, youth exchanges or internet projects with a European dimension.
Total prize money of 10 000 euros
The three winning projects will be awarded funding of € 5 000, € 3 000, and € 2 000 respectively. They will also be invited to visit the European Parliament in the autumn. The representatives of the national winning projects will not only be invited to take part in the Charlemagne Youth Prize award ceremony on 27 May 2014 , but two days later will attend the City of Aachen International Charlemagne Prize award ceremony during a four-day trip to Aachen.
2013 winners
In 2013, "Europe on Track", a Spanish youth media project, was awarded first prize. The second prize was awarded to the Polish project "Discover Europe", an exciting photo contest which unites students through their creativity and vision of Europe. The third prize went to the Estonian Youth exchange project "The Story of my Life", a residential camp which unites people from different segments of society through dialogue.
